Should Employment Background Checks Be Banned?

Where does this leave retailers? A recent article on Retail’s BIG Blog says the new guidelines will leave retailers unable to protect their customers and workers, calling it an unnecessary removal of a system heavily relied upon by the industry for safety. In fact, the National Retail Federation says that nearly 100 percent of all retailers leverage background checks in their hiring process.

Getting hiring right is crucial in retailing, and not only for safety reasons. Your staff are the face of your business, interacting with customers, processing sales and providing support. Retail is about people and if you hire the wrong people, they present the wrong image to the public.

They are your brand and they — and the service they deliver — are what people remember.

Dynamics AX offers a new workflow feature to address some of these HR concerns. It automates the application, reference and approval process for positions. It also helps with recruitment and selection, training and performance management.
